Entry requirements and money

Most visitors from the US, Canada, the EU, the UK and Latin America enter Colombia visa-free for up to 90 days (extendable to 180). Your passport must be valid for at least six months, and you may be asked to show an onward ticket.

Colombia is cash-friendly: carry COP for meetings, meals and taxis. Cards are accepted in hotels and malls. Tell your bank you are travelling, and use ATMs inside malls or bank branches rather than street machines.

Where to go: cities and neighbourhoods

• Bogotá: stay in Zona T, Chapinero or Usaquén — the densest areas for dining, hotels and companions.
• Medellín: El Poblado is the expat and nightlife hub; Laureles is calmer and very local.
• Cartagena: Bocagrande and the Walled City for beach and old-town plans.
• Barranquilla and Santa Marta: Caribbean coast, great for beach trips and events.
• Cali: salsa capital — ideal if you love dancing.

Language and communication

Spanish is the language on the ground, but many companions list English — and some French, Italian or Portuguese — on their profile. Use the language filter before you write, and agree on the language of your meeting.

Google Translate covers the basics, but a few phrases in Spanish go a long way: “hola”, “cuánto cuesta”, “a qué hora” and “gracias” are enough to start.

Etiquette and safety for visitors

• Book through the platform and keep the first conversation there — verification and reviews protect you.
• Agree place, time, duration and price in writing before you leave your hotel.
• Never hand over your passport or personal documents to anyone.
• Use official taxis or apps (InDriver, DiDi, Uber) and avoid unmarked cars at night.
• Drink responsibly: alcohol and unfamiliar places are a risky mix for visitors.
• Respect boundaries and consent — they apply exactly as they would at home.

Common scams to avoid

The classic “send a deposit to confirm” request is a scam — real companions never ask for payment before meeting. The same goes for anyone asking you to verify yourself by buying gift cards or crypto.

Be careful with profiles that push you to move to WhatsApp immediately and refuse to talk on the platform, and with deals that seem far cheaper than everything else in the city.
